You assume that they do not have such capacity and their yields are low. This assumption is wrong on both issues. Hyundai right now is using CMP in most of its products in Korea right now. The yields are far better than MU's, with 85% at probe and over 90% at probe-to-ship. MU has not had those numbers in at least two years.

CMP capacity is not constained by clean room space, as you are probally aware this type of clean room space is much easier to add than a real fab. As for the Korean's ramping up .22 technology, Samsung is already fully ramped in Korea and in January were converted
in Austin, Hyundai is fully ramped in Korea on there .22um process and
soon to be in there US fab.
