Interesting news snippet (from Street.com):

In other news, the Seattle Times reports that a big organizational shake-up is imminent at Microsoft (MSFT:Nasdaq). President Steve Ballmer is reportedly concerned that the company "has drifted from a customer focus and needs to get back to delivering innovative products faster," the article said. The restructuring, which could be announced this week, is expected to bring Brad Silverberg, a force behind Windows and browsing software until two years ago, back from a leave of absence

Why don't the Japanese take action against MSFT. They would rather let the US goverment hurt its own industry. I bet the DOJ would have been happy Japan also pursued a legal case -- that is the impression I got back when Japan was investigating.

If the US loses a strong base with MSFT---its dominance is over in this industry. I don't think IBM, Oracle, SUNW can do the job. These are not as high profile as MSFT.
