ecommerceman,

You are right. E*trade needs to fix their problems. IMO, their very real problems DO need to be discussed, and need to be discussed on a widespread basis. So why not discuss them here?

I take it from your post that you see yourself as some sort of self-appointed "thread policeman"? One who determines what is, and what is not, to be discussed here?

Ice

Me too. I left because of all the whining. While I do believe that some discussion of e-trade's problems is pertinent to our investment-therefore pertinent to this board, I also get sick and tired of the same people posting the same complaints. They should make their case and move on. Some of them seen so damn helpless-you just want to say to them-change brokerage houses-do something-but don't just sit there and whine. (Maybe some of them are actually shorts trying to drive the price down). Regards. Sb2k

Even without the system failures, there would have been profit-taking after the e-brokerages' tremendous run-up, along with the profit-taking in the whole tech sector. One analyst, Bill Burnhams of Credit Suisse First Boston, said in news story: "Often when stocks run up incredibly, people look for an excuse to sell, and tremendously bad publicity is as good an excuse as any. It's clearly what you're seeing here."

Whether the pullback in the e-brokerages is completely over is another story. You might see EGRP bounce this morning, but there's still a lot of uncertainty about its system glitches.
