*ITU 3G Deadlines* Cool! Imagine being on the ITU junket. Kuala Lumpur, Fortalez [Brazil], then off to Europe in time for summer. Imagine the frequent flyer miles they'll be able to build up. Not to mention the big tummies from lots of yummies.

Some of the paragraphs read like notes from the Kremlin bureaucracy at its pinnacle of power. Lots of words with meaning cloudy. It seems to mean - "Could Qualcomm hurry up and agree to give away the necessary technology, so that all the ITU hangers-on can make a lot of money."

It was notable that there is a strong wish for the ITU process to be adhered to. Which I suppose means they don't want Qualcomm just ignoring the whole thing and setting up their own cdma2000 standard and ploughing [plowing] on without the ITU crowd in tow.

It's not surprising that "most players" don't want the multilateral process derailed! There'd be no more lunches, jamborees and lovely hotels in exotic locations. Players like to play and it's not right if Qualcomm takes their ball and goes home. The 'players' would just be left standing around looking at each other, with no committee agenda, no specifications to debate, no lunch menu, no fun and maybe even no salary! They'd only have themselves to play with.
