ATHM is the cable operator to beat as seen in the important Nederland jv with INTC, Patel, et al. Nederland is uniquely positioned to showcase the future of cable and it is strategically positioned by demographics, geography, and quality of existing cable infrastructure. We haven't gotten any progress reports for the last two months and it is frustrating because of its importance.

I don't see UIHIA as viable until they start getting into serious build-out. This is an often overlooked factor for ATHM. The company is going out and struggling with the myriad of messes and little by little is making it happen. Is anyone else? Is TWX-UMG-Road-Runner? They are just grooming themselves for purchase by a big telco like SBC. Fortunately for ATHM there is almost 0 probability that they will be involved with a purchase of Road-Runner or UIHIA. It is necessary to maintain the existence of competition to ward off the do-gooding of governments. If UIHIA can come up to steam in Northern Europe, then ATHM will make them toe the mark and all interests will be served.

Like the entire tech sector UIHIA is way over-priced. When it drops to half its price it might be a consideration. Why go for also-rans? Stay in or stay out, but mostly stay away from the stock market.
