Extreme Networks files for IPO. This should be a hot one. I know of one big tech player that is both using internally and OEM'ing Extreme products. There is so much international demand that Extreme is requiring (as of mid-January) three months lead time for US contracted orders of their Black Diamond product line. But to play devils advocate... This is good that they have so much demand... but sometimes over-demand is just as bad as over-supply in lost present and future sales.

Extreme Networks is taking a global view of local area networking. The company, which generates about 60% of its sales from outside North America, makes LAN switches, devices that direct data to the most efficient path along a network. Extreme Networks' BlackDiamond and Summit switch families address the switching needs of different LAN segments -- from desktop to server, workgroup, and network core. The company also offers software for switch management and configuration. Customers include resellers and original equipment manufacturers in more than 35 countries; 3Com and Compaq account for 25% and 21% of sales, respectively.
