I agree Sonki, if the DOJ can't knock the share price down I doubt that sunw poses any major threat. BTW I'm long sunw as well. What will we see tomorrow with regards to the techs?

I've wondered how long MSFT would be a safe investment. You are probably right when you say it is safe to invest in this company for the time being.

But I've been afraid to time MSFT's because, on the horizon--at some point in time--another company will develop a reliable and efficient operating system that will drive the PC market.

Unless, Oracle's Larry Ellis and Sun develop a computer that does not need an operating system.

PS: I read that Bill Gates said that while Coke may remain a market leader 20 years from now, MSFT might not be. Of course, 20 years seems far out, in the very, very distant future.
