Scumbria,

Do you have any experience at all in IT functions? The fact is hardware goes missing, memory just gets "lost". The network card is not the part folks care about identifying as they cost pennies compared to CPU's in a box under folks desks, open to theft by passers by at almost anytime.

Businesses don't usually buy a second computer, they roll out a complete new line and retire or waterfall the old stuff down the chain of computing power/need. I'm not talking about small businesses of less than 500. When the geography of your business includes 10/20 buildings (campuses) separated by a mile or more from end to end, no one wants to open boxes to see what cpu is where.

Think a bit larger when I say businesses.
