India to Buy Surplus Electricity From Pakistan in Landmark Deal, FT Says

Ratan:
Interesting news.

London, Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistan will sell surplus
electricity to India in a landmark deal between the two rival
nations, the Financial Times reported, citing Indian Foreign
Minister Jaswant Singh. Under the plan, India's government-run
National Thermal Power Corp. will buy 300 megawatts of power each
year from Pakistan for the next 10 years. The agreement could
help improve ties between the two countries, which have been
strained by nuclear tests and a border dispute, the report said.

India and Pakistan were criticized and sanctioned by the
international community last year for exploding several nuclear
bombs.
