A:) Despite my taking offense at your attempt to smear LBJ, I am a Republican.
B:) Many foreign countries would have no investment whatsoever if they didn't have cheap labor, and the pay is superior to what they are used to. That's how economic growth starts. Our job is not to keep prices artificially high, so that American consumers suffer, but to expand those sectors of the economy that Americans do best. Unfortunately, that favors skilled laborers, but one of the hidden benefits of roboticization is the creation of jobs for the semi- skilled. It is like what has happened among retail clerks: computerization has made almost anyone qualified to work behind a counter.
