Just looking at the opening phrase of the article, it shows a certain insensitivity to the facts.

It states:

"The next-generation Internet2..."

Internet2 and the Next Generation Internet are two separate (albeit, related, in certain ways) initiatives.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I2 is already behind the curve in that many backbone links are already at OC-192 and above, utilizing DWDM.

The QoS issue was glossed over in the article. Are they using IPv6 or
some other standard?

Why did they go SONET? It seems that with the QWST donation they could have/should have been able to avoid PSTN, and the optoelectronic delays that imposes.
