>> ATHM and the telcos are two separate species of animal life.

I think about how some organizations have a powerful intraculture. Microsoft comes to mind. Everybody (!?) at speaks the same language, communicates through mail with the same rituals, has access to a common worldview (whether or not they agree with it, they understand it and find it compelling). These factors and others add up to a high degree of internal efficiency at meeting goals.

Then I think about subcultures within an organization. Some organizations are more homogeneous than others. The main MS campus has high homogeneity.

I hallucinate the following:

- ATHM has an efficient intraculture
- ATHM is relatively homogeneous

- XCIT is similar and similar to ATHM
- ATHM and XCIT can merge into one homogeneous culture

I wonder about:

- how do my hallucinations match reality?
- what is T's corporate culture like?
- will the ATHM/T interface remain efficient as it becomes larger?

I'm casting about in the space of human factors ...

Good point. They could pull ATHM into carrier status if they are not careful in the various ways I have previously indicated. One important way is to build a firewall between VoIP and broadband. This is consistent with the FCC's expressed intent. Somehow Jermoluk who is losing his ability to be a CEO has not realized the importance of building a wall between his office and Armstrong's. T's goals are not identical to ATHM's. Your posts implies this.
