If I were to speculate, my guess would be a shake down of investors which will eliminate the weak hands. I would think that we should be up for the day when its done but what do I know.

YHOO did same thing last time it split. A few days with lower price followed by a new uptrend. If you're in for the long term just hold and wait, if you're in for short term I hope you sold friday.
