ESS Technology, Inc. Announces a Cable TV Internet Set-Top System Joint Development Effort With Fei-Hong Electronics Co. FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- ESS Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: ESST) announced today it has entered into a joint development project with Fei-Hong Electronics Company, Ltd. to develop a Cable TV Internet Set-Top system. Fei-Hong is a cable TV set-top system developer under the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of China. The joint development currently underway leverages ESS digital video architecture, which is built around a RISC processor and a DSP core. Without additional infrastructure changes, the Internet Set-Top Box can be connected to the existing cable TV network to deliver high quality audio/video information services for Internet applications. "This is part of ESS overall Internet roadmap to provide complete system and applications solutions as well as Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Internet Content Provider (ICP) services for the Chinese Internet market.
