CMGI opened nicely (~$125), then had a monday tantrum...($112)I hate it when it does that!!!

Any news or info out this morning besides -
*R. Ancampora's blustering
*the MSN article? (Decline seems to correspond with the Ancampora mkt. decline prediction)
* Yahoo down after stock split (is that allowed?)

I doubt CMGI will be driven by "blowout" earnings announcements. I assume all reasonably astute investors understand that CMGI is a "market-basket" of internet stocks and that they have some huge public winners that they can "harvest" whenever they want. So earnings are going to be sporadic -- but it is the portfolio of investments and their prospects that provides the underlying market value of the stock.

I assume that today's correction reflects some institutional queezyness (sp?) about the market in general and the internet in particular. With all the properties that this company has a stake in, I look at the current market cap of about $5 billion and figure: this is probably reasonable for now and the upside is probably enormous if any (or just a few) of these future IPO's turn out to be big winners. Pretty unsophisticated, but that's how I look at CMGI at least for now. Just MHO.
