i'm glad you recognize the human factor, this is something that an economic model has no feel for....deming was basic, basic enough to turn post war japan into a world class economy...the nihon industrial machine grew without loss of the precept of the "human factor"...in fact it started to stumble as more modern western minds took hold...

imagine being a customer of mu, you know there is low demand, they have the supply you require, and what do they do...raise price...a bit of extortion on their part....now as supply increases, competition enters...what does the "human factor" remember of the less than benevolent mu.....

i'm a capitalist...believe in profit, but not at the expense of "humans" ala the style of al dunlop....bottom line looks good for a while during downsizing, but then what?....a good, somewhat loyal labor force is the greatest commodity a business has.....
