mmm....I sent a private message so as to not bore everyone...but perhaps..it should have been public... so here are my thoughts

I subscribe to AOL....and have been a subscriber since 1994. (Note: person who is adding us up, don't double count me!)

I utilize my @home cable modem to access it...and pay the reduced BYOA rate. (one reason I find the comments about @home being a competitor amusing...)

the reason why....perhaps...a lot of investors HERE might not subscribe to AOL...is they are more than likely more SOPHISTICATED than the average "newer" online person.....

AOL as a "content provider" is an "ENTRANCE" to new users of "online" and "Internet" content. BTW: Prior to their having "unlimited usage"...people fled....more quickly to IRC and the Internet...now...at least...they can hold the users...more.

Which is a major reason...why..we are investing....AOL appeals to the masses......not "us"...(oh..jaded users of the Internet as we are....lol)

yet....as AOL grows....some of us "old users/early adopter techies" are coming back....to try some of their newest offerings....particularly since they have opened that "lower priced" door, BYOA and "unlimited usage" for the price.....so we can "add it" without having to pay the higher tab....(using it as a secondary source of information, etc...)

smiles...Mary
