Hi Howard,

Let me expand my reasoning a bit. the situation with 300MM is that the technology has been put in limbo for the past 12 months, at least, because of the overcapacity in the 200MM fabs. The all in cost of the new 300MM fab is north of $1B per copy. No one in the chip biz wanted to move ahead of the curve. I.e. the industry, IBM, INTC, MU. hitachi, samsung, LG, taiwan semi, etal will move in unison or not at all.
The point of my inquiry was to assess how rapidly Intel's announced decision to move ahead in Hillsboro as well as IBM's announcement will impact the order cycle and book-to-bill ratio for AMAT KLAC and the other equipment cos. Comments?

Best, Ray

BTW, as I sit here watching a blizzard roll in I have to admit a wee bit of jealousy regarding your tennis arrangements. But I sure don't miss the traffic.
