Ajb2028: Novell is highly leveraged and misunderstood. I don't for one minute discount Microsoft's ability to market, bribe and buy their way deep into the enterprise market. There's one problem with all this: TIME. TIME and TRUST are the last frontiers. Microsoft is behind the 8-ball on both fronts. IF the internet WASN'T on the tear that it is..... And IF Novell and others DIDN'T get their acts together.... And IF Microsoft DIDN'T do such a terrible job of digging deaper dark holes in its already maligned reputation..... And IF industry developments WERE NOT heading in the direction of server-centric networks, apps and open enterprise solutions...... And IF the world's governments somehow conspired to CAP the growth of the Internet through encryption and other programs designed to present roadblocks...... If ALL of the above, then I'd agree with your well worn and understood point. But the facts and trends speak volumes in support of Novell's current and future position in the marketplace. The world needs a NEW platform for the enterprise - one that's standardized on Directory Services. Novell is THE ONLY company that has this technology. Whether you are Nortell, IBM, Cisco or whomever, if you want a seat at the next frontiers of growth on Internet Wave 2 you will HAVE to develop directory and server-centric apps - NOW, not later. Motorola's announcement with Cisco this morning speaks volumes. Cisco is trying to find wiggle room out of the NT box. Going into the wireless networks game with Motorola tells me they are reaching for where they have to reach. They were about to miss the wireless boat. They are about to miss the Directory-enabled networks boat. Cisco is playing cards that spell for certain they will HAVE to announce a major strategic shift toward embraceing Directory technologies NOW. Without a stable Directory app development platform, fusion between the digital wireless world and the internet will stall out. Lucent is in this 1000% bigtime, as is Nortell, IBm and others. These behemoths are voting with their pocketbooks. With the Internet taking off in "Internet Time" you DON'T NEED WINDOWS to grow. World enterprises are being forced to OPEN UP. The power behind this shift dwarfs the tiddlywinks days of Windows. It's NOT the PC, stupid. The NEXT FRONTIER is in the fusion of digital wireless networks of ALL types with the Internet. The Internet gets hundreds of additional users overnight during the next few years. No, the PC will not go away overnight. But the double-dipping revenue exploding potential of this Bandwidth explosion going on right now is simply beyond belief. Novell is at this highly LEVERAGED FLUX POINT. It's time for the world to hop on board this monster and ride this NEW horse to future growth and prosperity. AOL, Netscape, Sun, Oracle and others are all right behind this trend. The power and energy released from unbundling the Windows franchise will provide more than enough energy and power to launch many new Internet rockets out there. We have left the fun days of eBays, Yahoos and Amazons..... They pointed the way. Now it's all bout doing the BIG business of opening up world enterprises everywhere to the incredible raw power from the fusion between the Internet and digital wireless networks. Go Novell!
