In a Tampa Tribune article, the new Governor, Jeb Bush, apparently avoided making a commitment to ban offshore oil and Gas drilling. The following excerpt was taken from Mondays Tampa Tribune. Of course just the refusal to write to the Federal Government to reaffirm the State's opposition to coastal oil and natural gas drilling does not mean a wholesale reversal of State policy. At least He seems to be thinking about it.

"In his first month in office Bush has largely succeeded in positioning himself as a political moderate, finding broad support across the social and economic spectrum.

And the staccato burst of early, tough decisions he's made have earned kudos from both political parties.

Those decisions include spurning a request from a California activist that he push for a ban on affirmative action, writing the federal government to reaffirm the state's opposition to coastal oil and natural gas drilling, and killing the $6 billion bullet train."
