I think it's on how much churn he can generate for the brokerage. Kurlak has done well for ML, but has screwed the investors that count on ML research reports for their investment decisions. I think Intel should squash him like the bug that he is.

An analyst is measured primarily by how much commission $ that analyst generates for the firm. Stock price performance is a poor second in terms of where an analyst's bonus comes from.

That is why the quarter to quarter performance of an analyst's picks doesn't really affect the analyst in the short run. It is only after a number of poor picks that this transforms into a loss of credibility and thus orders to the salesforce.
