Stock price performance is a poor second in terms of where an analyst's bonus comes from. That is why the quarter to quarter performance of an analyst's picks doesn't really affect the analyst in the short run. It is only after a number of poor picks that this transforms into a loss of credibility and thus orders to the salesforce.
