I sneer back at people that sneer at me, brees. But I'm trying to cut back. Yes, telling the truth is better than lying. There is a judgement to be made, though, about things like whether the never ending lies about Iran-contra are better or worse than the Lewinsky lies, about which we now know more than we ever wanted to. Simlilarly, there's the issue of whether what Rehnquist or Thomas said at their confirmation hearings is worse than Clinton's lies. Then, there's the local "rule of law" bleating, which won't die down even if the perjury count doesn't get a majority, because some are beginning to question the legal merits. Aside from the fact that the House didn't even send up the direct perjury count, only perjury in not confessing perjury to Starr.

The ongoing morality play in Washington has plenty of jokers on both sides. But of course, Clinton remains the root of all evil, and anybody who says otherwise is a tool of the devil/antichrist, right?
