......Spidey et. al. provide maximum entertainment value, albeit in a perverse way—akin to pulling wings off flies.

It's amazing to me that they've stayed as long as they have. I keep waiting for the hand of Bob to come down and boink 'em on the head.

Well, maybe... but those crimes are more overexposed than a strip of Tri-X in a nuclear reactor, and how many wings can you pull from how many flies before getting a desire to wash your hands. Can the lot, I say, and let's go looking for some worthier adversaries.
