Esonic High Technology Company of Taiwan recently received large orders for portable DVD players from Japan and European countries. Over 100,000 portable DVD players will be produced and exported. Delivery of the products will start in the second quarter of the year. Esonic High Technology Company is the first company in the world to introduce the portable VCD products to the market, and now the company focuses on portable DVD products because of the potential business opportunity. The products will have company's own brand name, Esonic, to be sold both at home and abroad.

I don't know about C-Cube's silicon. Philips has its own MPEG-2 decoder, targeted at Canal Plus and BSkyB.....................
