Wow. I just don't see that happening. Cisco's recipe for investing in other companies includes technology, culture, and geographical proximity. Alcatel is not proximate. Also, they are too large to swallow cleanly. Finally, coming from a Nortel guy makes it all the harder to believe it could be true.

Looks like MITEL & CISCO are cooking something up To anyone interested: I live very close to Mitel's world head quarters and have noted the following from my own observations and from inside sources: - Apparently Mitel's financial accounting department has been working overtime and have been busy working on something very important. - Over the past few weeks important personnel from Cisco Systems have been seen at Mitel on over a dozen occasions. - Cisco Systems is building an office directly across from Mitel. - A Mitel and Cisco deal is not that far fetched if you think about it.
