True. Other OEM's will supply open boxes. Philips is a big Canal Plus supplier and Canal Plus is recommending the AViA@TV chipset.

Broadcom is working with the Compression Labs MPEG-2 decoder chip that GI mothballed 2 and 1/2 years ago. They may need to buy some decoders form other vendors to get the boxes out on time. One note, MPEG-2 decoder chips and sets are not able to be just switched, they need to work togather. Changing the MPEG-2 decoder chip would mean a redesign, and the replacement of other chips.
