longer term, as in 36 months or so...look at PSFT now...

JDEC is an AS400 vendor, unproven on UNIX and unlikely to have much impact there

Is OneWorld a good product? No. It is a fine fit in existing centralized AS400 shops that want to go to a more fully functional client and want some of the advanced app functionality. Outside that small box it doesn't compare to other offerings in the marketplace.

JDEC is a future ROSS. It is inexorably linked to the long term fate of the AS400, which ain't going away anytime soon.

When should you buy SAP? SAP was a good buy from mid-1997 through May 1998. We all got rich then. Since then the short side has been more lucrative. They are a services company selling upgrades and additional licenses. They aren't going to really deliver a SEBL quality Front Office product, a PSFT quality HR product and aren't likely to deliver a truly web enabled app suite any time soon.

When should you buy SAP? How about never. Want to buy a hot apps company, buy ORCL.

Cheers.

Cheers.
