Two pieces of news today that contributed to the fall in BRCM, IMO:

1. MediaOne announced that it is going to launch digital set-top boxes in Y2000 using Philips as their primary supplier. This breaks the hold on the digital set-top market that General Instruments and Scientific Atlanta have on the digital set-top market, for whom BRCM supplies chips. Does anyone know whether BRCM supplies chips to Philips? Who does?

2. Nicholas and Samueli register 200,000 shares for sale--their first sales since the lockup expired. Not a lot of shares in the grand scheme of things, I know, but a slightly bearish sign.
