Right, those moronic love songs that wail, "I belong to you" as though it were a desirable state to be equated to someone's portmaneau. Every now and there is a "one" with whom the mind, body, and soul connect. It is not the only potential "one," but there are very few such possible bondings for each person, I think. This is when marriage is a real thing, not merely a societal construct. In this kind of relationship "belong" is irrevelant as it applies to ownership. It is the other meanings of the word, "to be a part of, to share deeply...." Ah, I still have faith in this kind of loving. After all these years and all these scars. How appropriate for this thread.
