You missed my point. I don't think those that know believe Chambers' jawboning will have any effect on the success (or not) of the LU/ASND merger. However his statements might have an effect, however small, on the purchase behavior of target customers in the short term. Causing FUD is what it's about. What's funny is that many here believe that his jawboning has a material negative effect on his credibility. I'm not sure this is the case. Most luminaries, analysts, and couterparts feel John is very knowledgeable and a great salesman. These statements will have no effect on how these people feel about John....at least not in a negative sense. He has backed up his position with examples and is basing his assumptions about future acquisitions and their success on history. He is a strong leader and Cisco is a company to be reckoned with as is ASND/LU. It's a great time to be in this sector. I love 'em both. Wish I could say the same for the threaders. It seems I'm always a lone voice over here defending my other core networking holding (although I'm not sure why). At the same time I've only had to defend ASND once on the CSCO thread....they just don't bash over there. I'm still not sure why the divergence in cultures on the threads, it's most interesting though. Perhaps you could shed some light on that. OG
