Yes, I expect there'll be a convergence.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of angles to play and
a lot of money to be made.

Btw, Alain Rossman, CEO of UP, use to work with
GMGC. And, in fact, his wife was their Mkt VP. So
one can safely assume that these two firms have
each other scoped out quite well.

Oddly enough, I bet if UP went public tomorrow they'd
exit over $20. And they aren't a tenth of the company
that GMGC is in terms of partnerships, market or
technology. GMGC is still living down its sordid
pre-Portico past. Plus we have a general
market-education problem, imho.

Still, today's action was encouraging. Sooner or later
the world will understand just how big this is. Of course,
by that time, they won't be able to buy at $6.

Mark,

A little more on your post ...

I've used the UP product. In fact, my boyfriend
developed some of their early protos. Interesting, has
it's place. And integrating voice with it makes
drop-dead sense.

Not only would you want to switch to voice sometimes, but
sometimes you want to get the *results* in text (cuts
both ways). For example: "Portico, send me all American
Airline flights leaving SFO and arriving in NYC today".
(And up pops a text listing of the flights on your
phone's micro-browser). That kind of thing.

UP can't make money on the micro-browser side. Basically we're
talking a stripped down HTML browser that fits in a phone ROM.
No, their money is on the server side, just like GMGC. And an
integration would be easy, I think.
