The mistake is to fail to make the comparison on a sequential basis, rather than the "year over year" quarterly comparison. I don't think you can say, "Well, DELL did this in February of 1998, and therefore I think February of 1999 stands a big chance of being the same."

I'd say that we need to look at the last split and earnings, and the earnings that preceded that. Many, many, many said it would split at the prior earnings, but they held off, and did it later.

Don't bank on anything other than SOLID earnings.
