I believe the printer I witnessed was less than $300. It was
probably the MD1000??

I would say that it was the ALPS MD 1000 that saw at COMP USA
I bought the MD 1000 about a year ago and think I paid $350 at the time
and then there was a $50 rebate

I just checked BUY.COM and they have the MD 1000 for $253.95
and there is a $50 rebate

This is a GREAT printer and would never even consider anything else !!

I'm not exactly sure what happens when another brand of printer runs out
of ink but 1 thing I thought was cool about the ALPS ......if you are in the
middle of printing a pic. and 1 of the ink ribbons runs out it simply stops,
gives you a warning to replace the spec. ribbon and after you do it simply
continues to finish the pic.

The Demo that you saw at COMP USA was no trick <vbg>
and I think the quality is incredible

If anyone was to purchase a new ALPS printer I would highly
recommend picking up a 4 pack of the black ribbons
and then 1 each of the other ribbons Cyan, Magenta and Yellow

Tim

RE:COLOR printers

Consumer Hardware Product of the Year from Macworld magazine....Epson Stylus Color 740 $279.... there most likely is a PC version. Epson has been considered best value line of printers for years in Macworld and they do know their graphics hardware.

On another note, after applying the PM 4.01 patch does your PM still show 4.0 as the version. I've been congratulated by the install file for successfully completeing the patch but PM still shows 4.0.
