Captain, MUSE script data from Monday was up from the prior week: New 1,728 up 2.4% Refill 1,730 up 5.5% Total 3,458 up 3.9% If we look at MUSE scripts in January 1998 and compare them to the month before and after, for whatever reason, January was a bad month for prescriptions. Viagra numbers were essentially flat with new 64,490 and refill 94,035.

Captain, I don't know anything about the insider buying statement that G22 just mentioned. Currently nothing on Edgar but by the end of this week we should know what is going on here. Certainly it will be a good sign if the few remaining Vivus executives are buying share. As far as my own contacts go, the information I have been given sounds proVivus. On the trading front I have been informed that Merill Lynch has been accumulating a lot of Vivus at the 2 1/2ish level. Bear Sterns is still holding a ton of shares short and is trying to cover at 2 1/2 but also is trying to hold the stock down at 2 9/16. IMO all it will take at this point in time is a third player to start accumulating at market which should force Bear Sterns hand. Good luck. There is IMO too much potential good news for Vivus not to get some new players to start some serious accumulation. If G22 is right about insider buying, this will certainly be a green flag to new speculation regarding a soon to be announced partnership.
