John - whatever is said I think this resignation is related to the ARP bid - my guess is that he was 'for' and a balance of key players were against - otherwise the bid would have been extended - just a guess. but the timing is extraordinary on a day when strong results are released and the ARP bid expires and before the company is due to meet with analists. Edit - another possibility -he was responsible for the 'low bid' strategy which may be seen now as a failure. dd
