It is surprising how much negative publicity Healtheon gets.

Management is peerless. The corporate mission is inspired. They have been developing software to automate and standardize many aspects of medical communications (referrals, lab results, test ordering, billing etc) for over two years--forever as far as time is measured on the internet. The customer list is blue chip. It looks like they are far ahead of their competition (or should I call it potential competition). The need for their services is huge and unmet.

Yet it seems that every article I read wants to take shot at them. This puzzles me. But I am planning to take a large position. I was impressed with their presentation at the January H&Q Health Sciences conference. For someone buying the stock, the IPO couldn't come at a better time--during an internet stock price pullback, amid lukewarm publicity--but that's just the contrarian in me.
