Semantics. It may not be shared between you and the local office, but it is certainly shared beyond that. Limited resources are always oversubscribed where revenue is involved. Oversubscription is a hollow argument on anything involving the net, because the impact is most often felt at the far end. Go get pricing on guaranteed bandwidth on any given media. Yikes! :)

If you want to run a server you are probably better off with DSL, but you can usually rent space on a provider for less money, less hassle, and with a bigger pipe to your customers.
