DMG - Is WCDMA a harmonized standard?

Much more so than CDMA-2000. Remember all those meetings in early 97 to harmonize the various 3g standards at ETSI. CDMA-2000 did not go through a similar process. This is not to imply that it is entirely a one man show, but comparatively I think it is.

PS You are quite right that it is possible, as a Qualcomm stock holder, to interpret data coming out the meetings as aimed against Ericsson. And I think from a rational standpoint that would be true (Ericsson is, after all, holding up ITU CDMA-2000 approval with IPR claims), but the fact is that the data being put out looks much more like the Ericsson press releases than the Qualcomm ones. Like it or not I think it is Qualcomm that has the reputation for being an impediment. This is the price of Ericsson being the better at manipulating public opinion.
