JAWS Technologies Offers Encryption
Solution for Microsoft Outlook 98 Security
Flaw

Business Wire - February 09, 1999 11:49

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1999--JAWS
Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq/OTC BB:JAWZ), a provider of the best in
information security technologies and practices, offers Microsoft(R)
Outlook(tm) 98 users a solution to the security flaw recently discovered in the
messaging client software.

The identified security flaw in Outlook(tm) 98, where replies to encrypted
e-mails are sent back unencrypted, can be addressed using JAWS L5 E-Mail
Encryption software. The new e-mail encryption product acts as a security
plug-in for the messaging client software. When configured with Outlook(tm),
e-mail users have immediate, full time 4096 bit encryption technology to
protect the integrity of e-mail messages and associated attachments, without
risk. This solution can be used to replace the flawed encryption capabilities of
Outlook(tm) 98 for customers using the corporate/workgroup configuration as
well as serve as a more powerful encryption feature to other messaging client
software including Microsoft(R) Outlook(tm) Express/97, Netscape(R)
Messenger, Qualcomm(R) Eudora and Pegasus Mail.

"We are pleased to offer JAWS L5 E-Mail Encryption product as an
immediate solution to a rather significant concern," states Robert Kubbernus,
CEO, JAWS Technologies Inc. "The recent security flaw found in the
Microsoft(R) Outlook(tm) 98 product is further validation that even the
world's biggest technology developers are vulnerable. Companies like JAWS
have unique talent and capabilities designed to address the enormous
weaknesses in information technology. Security is now a 'must have' versus a
'like to have' concern in the corporate world. Corporations now view IT
security as more than just safety of their information and client confidentiality
but also their own brand protection."

The JAWS L5 E-Mail Encryption solution is a unique combination of strong
encryption software integrated with a public key system to create secure
e-mail routines. JAWS Technologies has developed a protocol that addresses
the vulnerabilities of unsecure e-mail transactions. This e-mail solution involves
the use of a central public key server and instantaneous encryption processes.
Clients utilizing this solution have strong, fast, easy-to-use and compact
security to protect sensitive e-mail messages against unauthorized access.
Commercial release of JAWS L5 E-Mail Encryption is expected at the end of
the first quarter of 1999 following the completion of the beta test period.

Some bang from 65 to 55. If this is what a news release does to the price, what's going to happen on news that means something.
