Thanks Craig ...for the thoughtful response...

I will do what you suggested...look at the historical pricing on each...and do some "hypothetical" trades.

I have a MS Dean Witter personal account (25%) and a MSDW Roth IRA (75%%), plus a tiny little "play" account (Online: Suretrade...that I just set up..want to try online trading to see what it is like...so far...so good!).

I would try this on the Roth account...with a more volatile issue I own...(such as CMGI or NSOL) first.... I have never sold a share of MSFT, DELL or AOL....and am not sure...how easy it would be for me to sell any of that...(not that I am emotionally tied to them or anything....smile..)

To make this work...I think...I would have to set a "buy back in target" price. Based on the moving averages possibly...

I will do the analysis...and share that with you..

thanks...again....for the suggestions and caution!!...

I know to tread lightly!! I am truly a
"buy and hold em" kinda investor...just thought maybe I could optimize a little bit??

smiles....mary
