If the knife is properly sharp - I imagine it would be a better way to go. You just bleed. I keep my blades real sharp. Your average thug keeps his pigsticker in letter-opener territory. It's your higher grade of psychopath who bothers to maintain a fine edge. The kind of guy who always had an interest in ob-gyn surgery. Me - I like to cook.
Getting shot - I've seen pictures of what bullets are meant to do. Blunt trauma of the worst sort. It is bound to hurt as bad as a heart attack.
It *could* be argued that it is this nastiness which gives the gun its deterrent value.

My husband, whose mother was German, claims that in Germany the weapon of choice for wives is - - the frying pan! Shades of the Katzenjammer Kids!! (Are you old enough to remember the Katzenjammer Kids?)

X, can you find any actual statistics for homicide by knife in Britain? I have looked several times on the web, including this evening, and have never been able to find anything.

I would really doubt that knife murders are really very prevalent, because it is much more difficult and in-your-face to kill someone with a knife, and also because America is simply an extremely violent nation, all around. But I would certainly be interested in seeing some statistics.
