As long as you can accept ESS's modem technology, this Superlink audio/modem chip set is the best money can buy. It gives the ESS quality PCI wave table audio, much better than ISA audio; it supports extensive ACPI power management scheme; it offers v.90 modem, either as a low cost software modem; or offers v.90 modem in DSP hardware as a companion chip; Who else in the world, may I ask you, can offer similar solutions? From the same sources, I mean. Not from Lucent, not from T.I., and not from Rockwell. Not from Aureal, not from Yamaha, and not from PC-Tel. Steve
