Networks North Inc. successfully completes a leading edge web-based training application for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce
PR Newswire - February 10, 1999 09:02

NASDAQ: NETN

TORONTO, Feb. 10 /CNW-PRN/ - Networks North Inc. (NASDAQ:NETN) is pleased to announce that, its 51% owned subsidiary Interlynx Multimedia Inc., has completed a leading edge web-based training application for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), one of the largest banks in North America with $283 billion in assets as of January 31, 1998.

The project was completed on time and is now being used to train staff involved with the bank's Management, Accounting, and Reporting (MAR) project. The MAR project uses an On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) application provided by Cognos Inc. of Ottawa, Canada and will be used by approximately 1000 employees of the bank's Finance division. To date, a significant portion of this group has successfully completed the training provided on the CIBC Intranet.

''The final product delivered by the Interlynx team exceeded the expectations of both our Project Sponsors and Users,'' commented Andrew Lonsbrough, Manager, Learning & Business Support, at the CIBC, ''and has set a standard at the CIBC which many other projects and departments are now keen to match.''

The web-based training application developed by Interlynx uses Active Server Pages (ASP) technology from Microsoft, Java, and an ODBC database. This highly integrated ''third generation'' web-based training software uses no browser ''plug-ins'', but is entirely based on server-side programming.

''Interlynx continues to develop advanced web-based training software,'' said Dr. Gary Woodill, President, Interlynx Multimedia Inc. ''This is consistent with Interlynx's mission which is to develop the most innovative web-based interactive software in the areas of training, knowledge management, and e-business.''

Networks North Inc.'s operating units include wholly owned NTN Interactive Network Inc. (NTNIN), Magic Lantern Communications Ltd. and 51% of Interlynx Multimedia Inc. the subject of this release. NTNIN is the exclusive Canadian Licensee of NTN Communications, Inc. (AMEX: NTN), a leading producer and programmer of interactive television, on-line and Internet entertainment. The NTN Entertainment Network distributes programming to more than 15 million participants per month at restaurants, sports bars, and other group viewing locations throughout North America, including 525 in Canada with over 2.5 million participants.
