02/08/1999 - Honda Buys More Ballard Fuel Cells to Evaluate

(It would seem Honda had more to offer Anuvu than BAT or SSPC did it also seems that in self interest Honda would use their own fuel cells. Perhaps Anuvu is such a well kept secret that Honda couldn't find the Anuvu web page. Niether could I. I'm sure it will turn up soon, next to the beans and herbs perhaps?)

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - Despite an announcement last week by Honda Motor Co. that it would develop its own fuel cells (News Notes 2/5/99), a Honda subsidiary today ordered $1.4 million ($2.1M Canadian) worth of Ballard Power Systems fuel cells, related equipment and support services. According to Ballard, Honda R&D Co., Ltd. of Saitama, Japan will use the Ballard fuel cells in its research and development program for evaluation and development of fuel cell-powered electric vehicles (EVs).
Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert hydrogen into
electricity. Hydrogen to power the fuel cells can be obtained from
methanol, natural gas, petroleum - or even water (News Notes 2/8/99).
Honda said last week it expects to launch commercial sales of its
fuel-cell EVs in 2003.
