no contradiction, just a safe haven method if you are conservative..no guarantee of a return with an index fund, plus no property you can mortgage as you can with an underlying equity...my example gives you a 20% return on the initial trade, and uncaps the return if you hold the free 100 shares...if you want to be aggressive in the instance i cited you might want to write some puts against dell and receive more income to further reduce cost..put/call write combo will always win one side..it's the inevitable
