Funny he was able to destroy what didn't exist. She had left several months before the affair started and was saving for a divorce. Her loving husband had a habit of getting drunk and pounding the crap out of her.

I seem to recall that she was separated at the time the affair began, and therefore on her way to divorce in the first place.
