Considering the drop in the high techs, LSI seems to really really want to stay at $25-$26/shr. I think today was a good test for LSI.

M, >>>I was disappointed in the thread's response to the news about the new wireless
chip announced yesterday.<<<

I think the lack of response is due to the fact that when LSI stock was languishing/going down, there were dozens of new product announcements that did nothing for the stock. All good stuff, but...It was kind of like the boy who cried wolf.

Still, a lot of the new products are intended for communications and network applications. That can't hurt.

The 0.18 micron technology had the qualifier "leff" which means it's not the same as "all 0.18 micron." I think the overall process is considered 0.2 or 0.22. This is not to say it's not ahead technology wise. It is. I don't know when LSI's full blown 0.18 will be out. Just for reference, Intel will be in production with 0.18 late 2Q at some locations.

M., I think this paragraph from my posting #reply-7713409 speaks for
itself: "Production of CDMA handsets will grow from 8.7 million
units produced in 1997 to 69 million units produced in 2002,
"
said Dale Ford, principal analyst of semiconductor application markets
at Dataquest.

This is truly a staggering figure. Those on this thread are pretty
much aware of LSI's potential. We just naturally respond to LSI's
increase in stock price (as investors/traders) rather than to a news story.

I was disappointed in the thread's response to the news about the
new wireless chip announced yesterday.
