Uncle Frank- I feel that money talks, and Lycos officers will take the best deal for themselves. Remember that Lycos went from $50/share a short time ago,to $125, largely based on spectulation of some sort of pending buyout or merger, so the premium had already been put into the stock price( up 150% in 40 days) IMHO , and for the stockholders to expect a lot more than that is a lot greedy, especially since the Lycos business model had not produced dime one of net profit.
I feel that the potential for net profits as a stand alone company, largely through selling banner ads was a highly limited prospect. For CMGI to derive the most profit from this "cow",David had to help seek an arrangement that imposed a new business model, which was done under this deal. How can we as stockholders of CMGI, be highly critical of David who took $2 mill got back $149 mill. and still has hold of (their share)$1.2 billion capitalized company, whose stock shows evidence that stockholders appreciate their new business plan.
