Monday February 15, 8:39 am Eastern Time Nokia and Proximus sign a GSM expansion agreement, worth over EUR 100 million NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 1999--Nokia has signed a three-year frame agreement with Belgacom Mobile for the expansion of their Proximus GSM network in Belgium. The value of the contract is worth over EUR 100 million. Nokia will supply base stations, base station controllers, the Nokia Network Management System and a range of customer services including installation, network planning, technical support and training. The agreement also includes components of the recently launched Nokia High Capacity Solution enabling future use of dual band services in more populated areas. ''This agreement means Belgacom Mobile will continue to offer competitive, advanced services to a growing number of subscribers. Nokia will also be the main supplier of Base Station Subsystem equipment for the network,'' added Folke Rosengard, General Manager, Nokia Telecommunications Belgium. ''Nokia's solutions enable cost-effective provision of services for GSM 900 and future GSM 1800 customers.'' Belgacom SA, headquartered in Brussels, is the national telecommunications carrier in Belgium.
