Okay, nice start on the "always on" era. But let's consider another angle. With "always on," isn't there suddenly a new level of interactivity? Under this scenario, the Net becomes worthy of seamless, continuous management functions. You can ask it to 'go fetch' and you can work with it heuristically. Hey, you can *train* it. When you enable a high-bandwidth, continuous "dial tone," you open up a sort of three-dimensional space which is capable of virtual intelligent life. You almost end up with an electronic alter-ego. Very sci-fi, and most unprecedented.

Amazingly, all of the technology exists. The processing power is here. The connectivity is here. The demand is here. We just need to develop the applications.

Think we're ready to concede a big one to SUNW's McNealy: "The network is the computer..."
